The No. 3 Lakehead Thunderwolves got scoring from eight different players en route to a 9-2 win over the Queen's Golden Gaels Saturday night at the Jock Harty Arena in Kingston. The win raises Lakehead's record to 8-2-0-0 in OUA play (15-4-1-1 overall) while Queen's record goes to 4-6-0-0 in OUA action and 5-7-0-0 overall. Lakehead outshot Queen's 34-30 on the night.
Lakehead was led by Murray Magill with two goals and Joel Scherban, Jeff Richards, Erik Lodge, Jason Lange and Jounni Kuokkanen with a goal and an assist each. Lakehead's other scoring came from Andrew Brown and Tobias Whelan. Mike Wehrstedt, Dene Poulin, and Jesse Baraniuk each added two assists. Queen's tallies came from Mark Norman and Brad Walford. Chris Whitley was the winning goaltender for the Thunderwolves and lifts his record to 5-0 in OUA action.
Lakehead sees action again next weekend when it closes out the first half of the OUA regular season by hosting the Ryerson Rams for two games at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay.
