Lakehead Thunderwolves Hockey is very proud to announce the new schedule for the 2007-08 mens hockey season; the Thunderwolves seventh OUA campaign. Seasons tickets will go on sale at the Fort William Gardens Box Office on August 7th and current season ticket holders seats will be held until Sep. 14th.

Thunderwolves Hockey Executive Director Jason Mallon said this will be a very thrilling season of top CIS hockey for the Lakehead faithful at the Fort William Gardens. The 2007-2008 season will be the toughest the Thunderwolves have ever faced. Hosting the University of Alberta to start the season and with the increased strength of the Far West Division, we will have our work cut out for us. Our fans are in for a very exciting season, where every game will be a hard-fought battle.

The Wolves enter the 07-08 campaign full of optimism and this season will be the teams first under new Head Coach Don McKee. Gone from last years team is team captain and all-time goal scoring leader Jeff Richards; but the Wolves have brought in excellent recruits like Kris Hogg, Kyle Moir, Pierre Marc Guilbault, and Devin Welsh. These recruits will join an already strong squad of players like Mike Wehrstedt, Chris Whitley, Tobias Whelan, Mark Soares, and Matt Jacques.

The Wolves open up the home season against perennial CIS powerhouse Alberta in what should be a thrilling start to the year. Next the Wolves host a very improved Regina Rams squad from Canada West followed by two games against top divisional rival Waterloo.

Early November brings in arch-rival Western for two games and the middle of November will see the Wolves play one of the OUAs two new teams; the OUIT Ridgebacks. The Wolves close out the first half of the season with two tough games against the Brock Badgers; coached by Thunder Bays Murray Nystrom.

The Christmas/New Year holidays means its time for the annual TBayTel Varsity Cup tourney; and this season will be a thriller as the Wolves welcome defending tourney champs Toronto, Manitoba from Canada West, and conference rivals York.

The second half of the season sees the RMC Paladins come to the Gardens in the first week of January. The next weekend will be very interesting as former Lakehead Head Coach Pete Belliveau returns to the Gardens behind the bench of the Windsor Lancers.

The beginning of February will see the final regular season homestand series as the Wolves will host new divisional foes Laurier in what has become a very tough rivalry. Playoffs begin in mid-February and the Wolves look to be in the hunt for their second Queens Cup championship and a berth at the national championships in Moncton in March.
