Lakehead University Athletics and Thunderwolves Athletics Director Tom Warden are very proud to announce this years RBC CIS Academic All Canadians and OUA Ontario Achievement Award recipients. This year; both Mike Wehrstedt and Matt Maissoneuve garnered this honour for the hockey Wolves.
Overall; 21 Thunderwolves student-athletes (12 men and 9 women) have qualified for the prestigious awards. Winners must participate in a CIS/OUA varsity sport and maintain an 80% scholastic average in their studies.
Warden said these awards reflect hard work both in the classroom and on the playing fields. I would like to congratulate this years RBC Academic All Canadians and OUA Academic Achievement Award Winners. This year the large number of honourees shows our student-athletes intense commitment to their studies and to their varsity sports. I am very proud of all of them and would like to thank them for their hard work.

Mens Nordic skiing, womens Nordic skiing and track led the way with four recipients apiece;, mens basketball had three, mens hockey and womens basketball had two, and womens volleyball and wrestling each had one athlete garner honours.
The CIS Academic All-Canadians and the Ontario Achievement Award recipients will be formally recognized during the Lakehead Wall of Fame induction ceremony on September 29th.
