With the great Jeff Richards in the house the Thunderwolves brought their A game and downed the York Lions by a score of 5-2 in front of 1980 fans.
Lakehead would open the scoring midway through the first period when Geoff Dempster would make no mistake one timing a Colin Van Den Hurk pass through the five hole of Lions goaltender Cole Ceci.
The Wolves would strike again on the powerplay Joe Mack would bury a beautiful Spencer Blackwell pass from the left circle topshelf to bump the lead to two.
York would answer right back 11 seconds later when Lucas Theriault would score his first of the night beating Christian Cicigoi on a pass from Owen Gihula into open side of the net to bring the Lions within one.
In the second York would quickly tie the game when Lucas Theriault would beat Cicigoi for his second of the night two minutes into the frame.
Lakehead would respond when Greg Smith and Stephen Fox would head up ice on a 2 on 2 and Fox would snap Smith's pass past Cole Ceci to put the Wolves back on top 3-2.
The third period would see the Wolves Troy Williams and Josh Van Unen round out the scoring to give the Wolves the 5-2 victory.
