The Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team released its 2010-11 season schedule today, and will open its tenth anniversary season at home on October 1 against the Ottawa Gee-Gees as part of Lakehead Universitys homecoming weekend.
The Thunderwolves will play 20 home games against some familiar foes (Waterloo, Guelph, Laurier, Windsor, Manitoba, Brock, York) as well as some teams that fans rarely get to see play at the Fort William Gardens (Ottawa, Regina, Nipissing). The complete schedule of both home and away games can be viewed on thunderwolveshockey.com.
Lakehead won the OUA West Division title last season to advance to the OUA Queens Cup game versus the East Division and eventual league champion McGill.
Head Coach Joel Scherban feels that the OUA West Division has become a very competitive division from top to bottom. We look forward to the challenging 2010-11 schedule as we will face perennial OUA contenders Western Ontario, Waterloo, Laurier, York and Brock; as well as up-and-coming teams such as Guelph, Ontario Tech and Windsor. In addition to our OUA West games we are excited to play two OUA East schools for the first time - Concordia and Nipissing.
Season tickets will go on sale August 16 at the Fort William Gardens box office.
