November was a thrilling month for the Thunderwolves, filled with standout performances, community connections, and a record of 5-3-0 as the team closed the first half of the OUA season.
On the Ice
The month was highlighted by an unforgettable 9-1 victory over Guelph at the Fort William Gardens in front of over 3,000 roaring fans. Local talent took center stage:
- Keighan Gerrie dazzled with a hat trick and two assists for a five-point night.
- Jack Cook not only electrified the crowd but also triggered the annual Teddy Bear Toss with his first career OUA goal.
- Keighan Gerrie, Jack Cook, Nick DeGrazia and Justin Paul, Thunder Bay’s own, combined for 11 points, showcasing the strength of local contributions.
Team performance metrics are shining bright:
- Lakehead boasts the best power play percentage in the OUA West.
- They hold the third-best penalty kill in the division
The division remains tightly contested, with just three points separating the top seven teams. Lakehead currently sits in 5th place with 17 points, only two points back of first, and holds valuable games in hand. The stage is set for an exciting second half.
In the Community
The Thunderwolves continued to give back to Thunder Bay, cementing their connection with fans and the local community:
- School visits led by Captain Noah Massie brought players into classrooms, inspiring the next generation.
- Hockey Night in Thunder Bay, the third annual event, welcomed local minor hockey teams and concluded with a thrilling overtime winner by Spencer Blackwell in front of 2,800+ fans.
- The Teddy Bear Toss on November 16 was a huge success, collecting over 30 industrial bags of toys for children in need. Donations were distributed to RFDA, Salvation Army, and Dilico, ensuring holiday cheer for many families.
- Thunderwolves5050 raised $16,642 in November to support Lakehead students with financial awards and bursaries!
