The Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey program is asking its long-time supporters and fans for input.
The team announced at a media conference today that the Thunderwolves are entering the programs 16th season planning for the future. While preparations for the 2016-17 campaign are already in full swing, the public, including long-time supporters, sponsors and fans will be asked a number of questions including spectator experience, concession and ticket pricing to name just a few.
Team President Rory Cava said that its important to listen to the community. Our organization has had a great deal of success in the past, but we know that to ensure long-term prosperity we need to know what it is the public would like to see as we move forward, Cava said. This information will serve as a foundation for future planning.
The survey is currently active and can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RPZKGM9. It will remain open until October 4.
The Thunderwolves also unveiled the teams newly-renovated dressing room today. We needed to make these improvements to better accommodate our players, said Jason Mallon, Executive Director for the Lakehead Thunderwolves. Its important that our program, including the support we provide to our players, is considered one of the best in the country. Prospects expect this type of facility as they assess where they are to attend university and play varsity sports.
Head Coach Bill McDonald says that the roster is looking healthy, and although still in an assessment stage, he anticipates good things for this upcoming season. We know that last year was not our best, but we feel this year we will see some renewed success for the team, he said. I encourage everyone to come out and support the Thunderwolves this season.
"As we continue to refresh our Thunderwolves hockey team, we kept in mind that our University community's team is also our Thunder Bay community's team," said Lakehead University President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Brian Stevenson. "I would like to thank our university community, as well as the citizens and private sector of Thunder Bay who continue to support us."
Season tickets are currently on sale by calling 625-2929 or by visiting the Fort William Gardens box office. The opening weekend is scheduled for September 30 and October 1 when the Thunderwolves host the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
