Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team is pleased to announce its second commitment of the 2010-11 recruiting class. Jadran Beljo, a 60, 180 pound forward from Sudbury, ON has enrolled at Lakehead University and will begin taking classes this September.
Beljo played 5 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes, Mississauga Ice Dogs, and London Knights. His best two seasons were in 2006-07 where he scored 36 goals and added 43 assists for 79 points in 63 games, and 2007-08 where he scored 33 goals and added 29 assists for 62 points in 53 games to go along with a +53 rating over those two seasons. For his career, he scored 101 goals and 120 assists for 221 points. Beljo also has pro experience as he played 16 games for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL during the 2009-10 regular season. He has also attended the Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Camp in 2008 and the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) Training Camp in 2009.
Thunderwolves coach Joel Scherban said that Jadran is a talented forward who competes hard every night and he will make an immediate impact in the CIS.
Beljo is familiar with many players on the Thunderwolves roster and said choosing the Thunderwolves was a natural decision.
I have heard nothing but great things about the City of Thunder Bay, Lakehead University, and the Thunderwolves hockey program, Jadran stated. He added I look forward to earning a quality education at Lakehead University and working towards bringing a National Championship to the University.
Beljo will be eligible to play his first CIS game on January 9, 2011.
