Thunderwolves Host the Golden Hawks

The No.9 ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves will welcome the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks to Thunder Bay this weekend for a crucial two game series. The Thunderwolves go into the weekend with a record of 3-3-0 after splitting their series against the York Yeomen last weekend in Toronto.

The two teams take to the ice Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay.

Series History:
This will be the 3rd and 4th meetings between the two teams. Lakehead was 1-1-0 in the two previous away games during the 2001-2002 season, with both teams scoring 5 goals apiece.

Thunderwolves Notes:
- The Thunderwolves are coming off of a split with York last weekend, winning 5-2, and losing 3-0.
- Grant McCune, has a record of 5 wins and 1 loss, 2.50 GAA and .898 save percentage.
- Thunderwolves leading scorers are Chris Shaffer with 3 goals and 5 assists, Bryan Duce with 3 goals and 4 assists, Matt Kenny with 2 goals and 5 assists, and Jason Lange with 3 goals and 3 assists.

Lakehead Head Coach Pete Belliveau said that Laurier is a formidable opponent.
"All the reports coming in on Laurier is that new coach Mark French is doing an excellence job and has his team working very hard. We had a tough series with them last year. They have a fast team who can score in bunches , so we will have to be at our defensive best and not take them lightly as they are one of the OUA's top teams."

Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks Team Info:

The Laurier Golden Hawks have an OUA record of 3-2-0 this season, good for a tie for second place in the OUA Mid-West Division. They are coming off a tough 5-2 home loss against Western on Oct. 30. The Hawks were up 3-2 with 3 minutes left when Western struck for 3 unanswered goals to steal the game. Laurier Head Coach Mark French said his team is looking forward to playing the Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay.
"We are looking forward to this weekend's games versus the Thunderwolves. We feel it will be a great test our teams character, playing on the road against a talented club like Lakehead. The Thunderwolves are a team with great depth throughout its roster and we have to execute our game plan if we hope to be successful this weekend."
