Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey program are pleased to announce that defenceman Andrew Tessier has committed to the program.
The 19-year old native of Blind River, Ontario played two years of Major Junior hockey, most recently in Drummondville of the QMJHL last season. The year prior, the 61, 205-pound rearguard suited up for the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL where he was a teammate of fellow incoming freshman Cody Alcock.
Tessier is eager to begin the next chapter of his life at Lakehead. Im excited about the opportunity to develop myself both as a hockey player as well as a person, Tessier said. At Lakehead University, I feel like I can discover different new aspects of life without sacrificing my love for hockey. And from my discussions with Coach McDonald, it's evident that the Thunderwolves want to be a tight-knit, hardworking and dedicated group of men. I look forward to contributing whatever I can to this program.
Thunderwolves Head Coach Bill McDonald likes what Tessier brings to the team. Andrew is a solid, right-handed defenceman who will add more depth to our blue-line, McDonald said. Hes young, willing to learn, and has a great attitude. Thats the type of player I want.
