The Lake Superior State Lakers were led by the strong goaltending of Jeff Jakaitis as they posted a convincing 4-0 shutout over the host Lakehead Thunderwolves. Jakaitis was very solid in the goal turning aside 37 Lakehead shots and the Lakers netminder made some excellent stops to preserve his shutout.
The Lakers were led by Dan Eves with a pair of goals while Josh Sim and Jeff Rainville added singles for the victors. Play in the first was a little slow with the Lakers having a strong edge in the play.
The Thunderwolves opened the second very strong and took the play to the Lakers for the first half of the period but two Lake State goals 5 seconds apart at the midway point took the wind out of Lakeheads sails and the Lakers added another goal later in the third. Lakehead picked up the play a little in the third; outshooting Lake State 16-11 in the third but it was the Lakers Eves who got the insurance marker to put the game away. Lake State outshot Lakehead 43-37 in the game.

Calgary plays Lake Superior State in the afternoon game of Tbay Tel Varsity Cup action Wednesday while St. FX takes on Lakehead in the night game.
