
A two-game home sweep of the Western Mustangs lifted the Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team into a tie for first place in the OUA West Division and the CIS announced Tuesday that head coach Joel Scherbans team had risen one spot to No. 7 in the national rankings.
Lakehead (17-5-2) received 81 voting points from members of the Canadian media, drawing them even with No. 6 McGill (18-5-0) The Redmen were awarded the higher ranking by virtue of their higher placed votes. No. UQTR (18-3-2) was the highest ranked OUA team with No. 5 Western (18-6-0) and No. 9 Waterloo (17-6-1) also representing the conference.
