The Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team lost 6-3 to the Western Mustangs Saturday night in London, Ontario. Lakehead now has a 12-6-2-1 OUA record (15-13-2 overall) while Western goes to 12-5-2-2 in OUA play and 14-7-2-2 overall. Western now moves one point up on Lakehead in the OUA Far West standings.
Lakeheads goals came from Jeff Richards, Tobias Whelan, and Andrew Brown. Ryan Hare led the Stangs with two goals while singles came from Steve Benedetti, Sal Peralta, Jesse Boucher, and Chris Eade.
Western outshot Lakehead 28-27 on the night. Brad Topping (9-5-1) got the win in goal for the Stangs while Chris Whitley (10-5-2) took the loss in the Lakehead nets. All of Lakeheads goals came on the powerplay while three of Westerns were scored with the man advantage.
The two teams face off again Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm EST at the John Labatt Centre in London. The game can be heard live on 580 CKPR AM Radio in Thunder Bay and online at www.ckpr.com.
