Lakehead Athletics and Thunderwolves Hockey are very proud to announce that Canadian womens hockey pioneer Lori Dupuis will be the keynote speaker at this years CIS Mens Hockey Championships Award Dinner to be held in Thunder Bay on Mar. 25th and that there will be a media conference featuring Dupuis this Thursday, March 5th at the Fort William Gardens as 12:15 pm lunchtime. The media and the public are cordially invited to a media conference with Lori Dupuis where she will be happy to answer your questions. Updates on the upcoming Cavendish University Cup will also be given at the media conference.
Dupuis will also be running a practise with the Thunder Bay Queens AA girls Bantam hockey team following the media conference; from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The media is invited to attend the practise as well. Lakehead players Richard Molenaar and Brad Priestlay will be joining Dupuis to help out at the Queens practise.
Dupuis, a Cornwall, Ontario native, is recognized as one of the top female hockey players in the world. In 1998, she helped Team Canada win the silver medal at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano and then won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Dupuis attended the University of Toronto where she played for the Varsity Blues and then joined the Brampton Thunder of the NWHL and was named an NWHL All Star in 1998-99.
Dupuis joined Team Canada in the mid 1990s where she was a member of three World Championship winning teams (2000, 1999, 1997).
Dupuis now plays for Brampton Thunder of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). She is also a mortgage planner with a Toronto firm.
