Lakehead came ready to play and they found the back of the net plenty tonight.
York would think they scored early in the period but it was waved off as it was kicked in. This close call woke the Wolves up and they went to work.
A minute after the waved off goal Lakehead would strike Joe Mack would find the twine on the Powerplay for his first of the game. The Wolves would keep pressing and later in the period would buldge the net twice more off of the sticks of Nikolas Campbell and JOe MAck with his 2nd of the game. Lakehead would head into the break up 3-0.
The second would see the Wolves offence explode with goals from Josh Van Unen, Keighan Gerrie, Malte Hasslegren and a short handed empty net goal from Luca Fascianio after York pulled their goalie to try and take advantage of a five on three and make it a 6 on3 instead which did not work.
York would pull starting goalie Carter Serhyenko after the 2nd period and put in Alex Chu in his place.
The third period would see York break Christian Cicigoi's shutout bid when Chase Sandhu would knock in a loose puck behind in the crease that sat behind Cicigoi. Lakehead would respond shortly after when Spencer Blackwel finish the scoring making it 8-1.

'Lakehead hits the road next weekend and heads to Kitchener to play the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday Jan 10th and Saturday Jan 11th with game time 7pm both nights. The game can be viewed on OUA TV at OUA.ca.
