Lakehead tames the Lions 7-3

The Lakehead Thunderwolves took it to the York Lions tonight drubbing them 7-3.

Lakehead would strike first when Tyler Ho would take a feed from Kevin Stiles and wristed it past Serhyenko for his first goal of the season.

York would respond shortly after when York's Owen Gilhula would beat Max Wright to even the game.

Lakehead's Olivier Pouliot would answer back shortly after picking up a rebound in tight and tucked it home to restore the lead.

The second period would see Josh Van Unen who was wide open in the slot take a feed from Keighan Gerrie and snap it past Serhyenko to up the Wolves lead to 3-1.

The Wolves would add goals by Griffon Fox and Nicolas De Grazia in the period which would chase York's Carter Serhyenko from the net and Matt Tovell would take over. York would add a late goal by Keeton Oakley to head to the break with the Wolves up 5-2.

The Wolves would strike twice in a forty second span early in the third with Griffon Fox getting his second of the game on the powerplay and Liam Whittaker getting his first of the season on a nifty forehand to backhand move around Tovell to make it 7-2. York would get a late goal by Jayden McCarthy but would get no closer as the Wolves would take the victory 7-3. Colin Van Den Hurk would record 3 assists in the game.
