The Lakehead Thunderwolves got off to a fast start and never let up enroute to an 11-2 drubbing of the Concordia Stingers at the Ed Meagher Arena in Montreal Friday night.

Lakeheads Kris Hogg opened the scoring 32 seconds into the game, and before the end of the first period, the Wolves added goals by Brock McPherson, Hogg again for his second of the game, Victor Anilane and Andy Hyvarinen to take a 5-0 lead before the 16- minute mark. Derek Famulare got Concordia on the board late in the period to make the score 5-1 Thunderwolves at the end of the first.

The Wolves kept pouring it on in the second stanza, adding four more goals. Scoring for Lakehead was Matt Caria, Anilane with his second of the game, followed by two goals in a row by Brennan Menard. That made the score 9-1 for the Thunderwolves with twenty minutes left to play.

The pace slowed down in the third frame, and Concordias Dominic Martel got one past Lakehead goaltender Alex Dupuis for the Stingers second of the game. The Thunderwolves replied with singles from Andrew Wilkins and Mitch Maunu to round out the scoring and put a stamp on a convincing Lakehead win.

Brennan Menard led the Wolves with 4 points on the night, with Kris Hogg, Victor Anilane, and Matt Caria all tallied 3 points each.

With the win, Lakeheads OUA record improves to 10-4-1, keeping the Wolves in second place in West Division.

There is a short turnaround for both teams, as game two of the series goes Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
