Lakehead is back this weekend after the holiday break to take on the York Lions. Friday Jan 3rd is an exhibition game and Saturday Jan 4t is a regular season game.
Lakehead is looking for a strong start to the second half of the season after closing out the first half with 2 losses in a row. The second half schedule will not be an easy one with all the OUA West opponents playing good hockey and the standings reflecting it with the 8th place team Waterloo only being 5 points behind 1st place Windsor who has 20pts. Lakehead is currently sitting 5th with 17pts.
York is coming into the weekend on a 7 game losing streak and will be looking to get things going against the Thunderwolves.
The Wolves hold the all time lead in head to head match ups in the regular season 29-18-4 and in exhibition 3-0-0. They also have out scored York 194-157 in the regular season match ups and also in the exhibition games 19-5.
Carson Cherepak and Christian Cicigoi will be looking play their best in the second half with the Thunderwolves looking to make a big push for playoff positioning with every point being crucial in a tight race. The Wolves offence will also play a big part in the playoff push and stringing together wins down the stretch.
The Jan 3 game is ticket redemption night. Bring your ticket from the Dec 28 game that was cancelled to the box office and redeem it for a ticket to the Jan 3rd game. The Jan 4th game is the start of the second half of the regular season. Start time for both games is 7pm at the Fort William Gardens.
