Local Defensemen Jack Cook Commits to Lakehead

Thunder Bay hockey fans should be familiar with Jack as the newest Thunderwolf recruit won the SIJHL defensemen of the year and SIJHL Playoff MVP during the Fighting Walleyes 2023 playoff run. Cook finished the 2023 season with 50 points in 43 regular season games along with 11 goals in 12 playoff games en route to the Bill Salonen Cup.

“We are excited to add Jack to our lineup. He brings a skillset that we feel is needed within our defence core. He has been a player over the last couple of years that has been able to produce offence and be relied on to play big minutes for his team. He will be a welcomed addition to our group.” - Andrew Wilkins

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play for the Thunderwolves. Through discussions with Coach Wilkins and the rest of his staff I realized that they had everything I was hoping for from a hockey and education standpoint. Being a local kid I grew up watching the Thunderwolves and now being able to play in front of not only the best USports crowd, but my friends and family, will be a dream come true. I’d to like to thank God, my family, my advisor, coaches, and everyone else who has helped me reach this milestone in my hockey and education career.” - Jack Cook
