
The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the Laurentian Voyageurs for a pair of games at the Fort William Gardens this weekend. The first game will go Friday night at 7:00 pm, followed by a special Saturday matinee beginning at 2:00 pm.
Last Time Out
Lakehead opened the season at home last weekend with a pair of non-conference games with the Manitoba Bisons. The Wolves took the Friday contest 4-3 before dropping a 6-2 decision to the Bisons on Saturday.Laurentian split a home and home series with Nipissing in mid-September, beginning with a 3-2 overtime loss on the road on September 12, but the Voyageurs rebounded at home with a convincing 7-2 win on September 17.
About the Voyageurs
The Laurentian University hockey program returned to the OUA just two seasons ago after an extended hiatus, so the Sudbury-based team led by Head Coach Craig Duncanson is still a relatively young team.Laurentians top returning forwards are Nick Esposto, Sebastien Leroux and Darcy Haines. The defence is anchored by Vincent Llorca, who was the Voyageurs second-leading scorer last year. Alain Valiquette and Charlie Millen have shared Laurentians goaltending duties for the past two seasons.

The Wolves have a 5-1 all-time record versus their Northern Ontario rivals, but Laurentian won the most recent contest between the two squads with a 6-4 win in Thunder Bay on September 27, 2014. Lakehead downed the Voyageurs 4-2 the night before.OUA Championship Team Honored
As part of Lakeheads 50th anniversary homecoming weekend, the Queens Cup championship team of 2005-06 will be honored prior to the games on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, and will later be inducted into the LU Athletics Wall of Fame on Saturday evening.
