Lakehead loses a tight contest 3-2 to the Western Mustangs
Lakehead came out quickly in the first Tyler Turpin would blast a heavy shot past Mustangs netminder Matteo Drobac to put the Wolves up 1-0.
Western would answer back just past the midway point of the first period when Shane Bulitka would find the back of the net to even the score at 1 a piece.
In the second period Western would take the lead when Drew Warwow would wrist a shot from the right circle passed Carson Cherepak.
The scoring would continue in the third period as Western would go up 3-1 on the powerplay when Eric Van Impe would slip one past Cherepak. Lakehead would respond late of the stick of Josh Van Unen but they would get no closer as Western would hang on to win 3-2.
This sets up a first round playoff match up with the Western Mustangs starting on Wednesday Feb 19th at 7pm at the Thunder Bay Tournament Center as the Fort William Gardens is currently hosting the Scottie's Tournament of Hearts.
