Lakehead did not get the start to the game they were looking for with Western getting out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back.
In the first only 2:35 in Western's Josh LeBlanc would break the ice taking a pass from Morison and ripping it top shelf on Max Wright's glove side.
Western would strike a little over eight minutes later when Zach power would pick the puck off of a Thunderwolves forwards stick and get the puck to the net where Shane Bulitka would bang it in to up the lead.
Lakehead would get on the board in the second Nicolas DeGrazia would take the feed from Keighan Gerrie on a two on one and make no mistake ripping it past Dylan Myskiw.
Special teams where key for both teams in the game as Western's penalty kill kept Lakehead scoreless om 6 chances and Lakehead's penalty kill held Western to 0-3.
The third would see Western add to the lead Zach Tucker would pick up an errant pass and skate into the zone and wrist it past Max Wright to the displeasure of the 3136 fans at the Gardens.
Western would seal the game in the last minute when Andrew Bruder would score into the empty net to make the final 4-1.
Western would out shoot Lakehead 34-29.
