
Lakehead got off to a slow start and that was the difference in the game.
Ottawa jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the 1st period with goals coming from Vincent Masonneuve and Andrew Belchamber to the dismay of the 2625 fans in attendance.
Lakehead would storm back 1:07 later when Olivier Pouliot would block a shot and then take off on a breakaway and he would lift a shot over the low glove of Gee Gee's netminder Zach Dietz to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Thunderwolves would get a powerplay 4 minutes later and they would pounce with Olivier Pouliot converting a Malte Hasslegren pass wristing it from the point past a screened Dietz to tie the game at 2. That is how the game would be at the end of the first period.
The Gee Gee's would strike in the second period with a goal from Bradley Chenier to go up 3-2. The Wolves would get their share of chances in the period but to no availe as Zach Dietz would close the door.
The third would see the Wolves get chances to tie the game but they could not figure out Dietz. Ottawa would get an empty netter with 4 seconds remaining to seal the win for them.

Lakehead will host the Brock Badgers next weekend to close out the final home stand of the regular season. Friday night will be the annual Jersey Auction night and Saturday will be Grad night for the Graduating players. game time is 7pm.
