Lakehead falls in OT to Ottawa

Lakehead had the lead in third but could not hold on and fell to the Ottawa Gee Gee's 4-3 in OT.

Lakehead got on the board at 3:06 in the first off of the stick off Ben Badalamenti as he would beat Lapenna along the ice with a hard wrist shot.

The Gee Gee's would answer back 22 seconds later when Justin McRea would fire a wrist shot from the right circle over Max Wright's left shoulder.

Ottawa would take the lead 5 minutes later on the power play when Max Grondin would fire a shot from just behind the net and bank it in off of the blade of Wright's stick and into the net.

The Wolves would tie the game up in the second when Ben Badalamenti would swoop in and deke around Lapenna and tuck the puck home for his second of the game.

Nicholas DeGrazia would get a penalty shot in the 2nd period after being tripped up and Franky Lapenna would poke check DeGrazia on the attempt.

DeGrazia would get a measure of revenge in the 3rd when his sharp angle shot would find the twine over Lapenna's blocker.to give the Wolves the lead once again 3-2.

The Gee Gee's would not go away and kept the pressure on and would tie the game up when Max Grondin getting his second goal of the game banking the puck in off of Wright's left pad.

The game would need overtime and Ottawa's leading scorer Luka Verreault would end the game cutting across the front of the net and tucking the puck under Max Wright as he came across the crease to make the final 4-3.
