Lakehead played a great 40 minutes but could not hold off the powerful UQTR Patriotes.
The reigning USports National Champions UQTR Patriotes came out of the gate looking like the long travel they had to do to get to Thunder Bay took its toll on them with Lakehead jumping out to an early lead after Olivier Pouliot wristed home a long shot past Alexis Gravel to open the scoring in the first.
Both teams would get some great chances to score but both goalies shut the door. Max Wright would make a highlight reel save stretching right out to catch a shot off of a pass.
The second would see Lakehead add to the lead When Dylan Massie would sneek a shot through a crowd in front past Alexis Gravel to put the Wolves up 2-0.
UQTR would respond 8 minutes later when Lois Rafanomezantsoa would rip a shot past Max Wright glove side.
Lakehead would respond :19 later When Josh Van Unen would find the twine to restore the 2 goal lead.
UQTR would come right back 1:09 later when there leading scorer Simon Lafrance would get a wrister past Max Wright to cut the lead to 3-2 after 2.
It would be all UQTR in the 3rd as Simon LAfrance would strike twice to complete the natural hat trick. Jordan Lepage and Anthony Boucher would round out the 4 goals in the period that would give the Patriotes the 6-3 win.
There was only one penalty called in the game which was assesed to UQTR.

Lakehead will play the McGill Red Birds on Saturday night. It is the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Bring new teddy bears to the game and throw them on the ice when the Wolves score there first goal. Game time is 7pm.
