Lakehead is heading to the playoffs with momentum on their side after picking up the 4-2 win over the Nipissing Lakers.
The contest was a tight one from the drop of the puck just like the previous 2 meetings were.
Nipissing's Payton Vescio would snap a shot from the right circle past Max Wright to open the scoring in the game.
Lakehead would respond shortly after when Ed McNiell would be found wide open at the side of the net by Griffen Fox and he would easily score to tie the game up.
The Wolves would get the lead quickly into the second when Keighan Gerrie would snap a Kevin Stiles pass past Zach Roy.
Nipissing would answer back later in the period when Harrison Caines would find Johnathon Rees open in the slot and he would snap it over Wright's catcher into the top corner of the net to once again tie the game.
The third would see Nicholas DeGrazia score on the powerplay with a one timer that Zach Roy had no chance on to break the tie. Griffen Fox would add an empty netter to seal the win for Lakehead.
Lakehead currently sits 4th but the Windsor Lancers beat the Laurier Golden Hawks 4-2 to remain tied with Lakehead with 30pts. Windsor has one game remaining against the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night which will determine whether Lakehead starts at home in the first round of the playoffs or on the road. If Windsor wins or loses in OT they claim the 4th spot. If Windsor loses in regulation they would be 5th.
