Lakehead did not get the outcome they wanted as TMU score 12:59 into overtime on a controversial play to take a 1-0 series lead.

The first period would see both teams play tight checking hockey and not let each other breathe as the plays were quick happening due the sustained pressure by both teams. Lakehead's Christian Cicigoi and TMU's Kai Edmonds would stop everything they saw in the first.

The second period would see TMU get on the board first when Aleks Dimovski would rip a shot past Cicigoi only :12 into the period to put the Bold up 1-0. They would strike again late in the period when Jaden Condetta would let a shot from the point go through a screen and it would get by Cicigoi to up the lead to 2-0.

The Wolves would rally in the third period when Noah Massie would convert a Justin Paul pass on a powerplay to cut the lead to 2-1 . They Wolves would contiue to pressure and Richard Whittaker would knock the puck in past Edmonds to tie the game and send the 2822 in to an absolute frenzy with a pop so loud it was close to 100 decibels. the game would need overtime to solve things.

In overtime the Wolves had multiple chances  to end the game but could not beat Edmonds. At the other end of the ice TMU also had multpile scoring chances but it came down to a trip by TMU that sparked debate and lead to TMU's Spencer Shurgue scoring to end the game. The fans were not happy and let that be known with a chant afterwards.

The series shifts to Toronto with game 2 on Saturday March 1st at 6:15pm.
