Lakehead drops Windsor 5-1

'The Wolves knew what was at steak in this series and they came ready in game 1. 

The first period would see Lakehead would set the tone for the evening with multiple scoring chances and just before the midway point they would go on the powerplay and would not waste anytime getting on the board with Spencer Blackwell redirecting a Joe Mack pass behind Windsor netminder Nathan Torchia.

The Wolves would keep up the pressure and after Spencer Blackwell laid out Matthew Millic behind the Windsor net he would get the puck from Pouliout along the wall and over to Luca Fasciano who would find Richard Whittaker who would tuck it into the net to put the Wolves up 2-0.

The Wolves would find themselves on the powerplay midway through the second and Richard Whittaker would find Nicholas De Grazia and he would bury it to put the Wolves up by three. late in the period Olivier Pouliot would get in on the scoring when he was sprung on a breakaway by Richard Whittaker with a beautiful pass that would split the Windsor defensemen and he would snap it five hole on Torchia to up the lead to 4 heading to the break.

Windsor would break the shutout with a shorthanded goal from Ty Toews with a bad angled shot from deep in the corner to the right of Carson Cherepak.. Olivier Pouliot wouldget  his second goal of the game off of a feed from Joe Mack out of the corner and would wrist an in tight shot past Max Donoso to seal the game for the Wolves 5-1. 

The win gives Lakehead a share of 1st place in the OUA West with TMU with both teams have 17pts.
