
Lakehead wins 5-2 over Western and wins the Best of 3 series 2-1.
The Lakehead Thunderwolves came out ready to go but it was Western that got on the board in the first period when Lawson Sherk would beat Christian Cicigoi midway through the first.
The Wolves would find the twine in the second period as Spencer Blackwell would knock one home tie tie the game up at 1 a piece.
Western would waste no time answering back only 1:23 later Zach Power would slip one in to put the Mustangs back on top.
Josh Van Unen would tie the game up just past the midway point of the 2nd period burying a rebound right in front of Matteo Drobac.
Wolves would show some serious bite in the third period when Josh Van Unen short handed would power past the Mustangs defender and back hand the go ahead goal top shelf on Matteo Drobac tfor his second of the night to the delight of the Thunderwolves bench.
The Wolves would keep the pressure on and with Western's net empty Spencer Blackwell would get his 2nd of the game after he would launch the puck down the ice and into the empty net to seal the deal. Dylan Massie would out hussel a Western defender and tuck the puck into the empty net shoretly after in insure there was no comeback and send the Thunderwolves into the 2nd round of the OUA West playoffs.
The Thunderwolves will return to the Fort William Gardens on Wednesday to face the Toronto Metropolitans to start the 2nd round of the OUA West playoffs.
