Lakehead defeats rival Western 5-2 and moves up tempoarily to 3rd place in the OUA West. Windsor plays Laurier tonight and a win leap frogs Windsor up to 3rd.
Lakehead got off to a hot start in the first period with a goal from Justin Paul and Alex Izyk getting his first as a Thunderwolve to get the early 2-0 lead.
The Wolves would continue the scoring in the second with goals from Nicholas Campbell and Joe Mack to increse the lead to 4-0. Western would get on the board in the second off the stick of Nicholas Yearwood to cut the lead to 4-1.
The third would see Lakehead's Ben Badalamenti net a shorthanded goal at the 1:56 mark of the perio to up the lead to 5-1. Western would get a late one on the powerplay from Jacob Santere but they would get no closer. Lakehead would pick up the crucial 5-2 win.
