Lakehead defeats Nipissing in OT

In the third meeting between Lakehead and Nipissing it was the same as the previous two with both teams having to grind out goals the goalies having to bear down in the trenches and stop alot of shots.

In the opening period the both teams would get early chances but it would be Lakehead getting on the board on a power play. Dylan Massie would win a battle along the boards and move the puck up to Jack Cook who would feed Luca Fasciano for the one time shot which would beat Reece Proulx to send the 2862 fans into a frenzy.

The second frame would see the Wolves back on another powerplay and Malte Hasselgren after some back and forth passing with Olivier Pouliot, Hasselgren would wrist a long shot over Proulx's shoulder to up the Lakehead lead to 2-0.

The third period would see Nipissing go on the power play and Kyle Foreman would be sent in on a partial break away and cut across the front of the Lakehead net a his shot would fin its way past Cherepak to cut the lead to 1.

Nipissing would continue to to pressure Lakehead and just pass the midway point ofthe period Kyle Foremen would get his second of the game after taking a feed from Charlie Johnston and wristing a shot past Carson Cherepak.

The game would need overtime to decide a winner and Spencer Blackwell would take a feed from Luca Fasciano and roof a sharp angle shot over Reece Proulx to give the Wolves the 3-2 win.

Lakehead would out shoot Nipissing in the game 41-38.
