The Lakehead Thunderwolves downed Nipissing 5-1 at the Memorial Gardens in North Bay Saturday night to complete the weekend sweep of the Lakers.
The Dubchak brothers staked the Wolves to an early lead, with Brennen scoring first just 2:26 into the game, followed by a short-handed goal by Carson a little over a minute later.
Ryan Magill notched a power play marker late in the period to give Lakehead a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The Thunderwolves controlled the play in the first period, outshooting Nipissing 17-6.
The Lakers hung tough and narrowed the gap to 3-1 when Erik Robichaud beat Wolves goalie Jeff Bosch with a shorty of his own at the 9:07 mark of the middle stanza.
Shots on goal in the second period were 13-5 for the Lakers.
The Thunderwolves put the game away in the third when Brennen Dubchak scored his second goal of the contest at 2:29 of the final frame,with Mike Hammond addingthe insurance at 9:07 to round out the scoring.
Nipissing outshot Lakehead 17-12 in the final period and 36-34 on the night.
The Wolves will return home for a pair of games against the UQTR Patriotes at the Fort William Gardens next weekend.
