The 2006-07 Lakehead Athletics Awards Ceremony was held Wednesday on the Lakehead campus at the Agora and Rena Bode, Jeff Cameron, Nicole Plummer, and Mark Soares were among the major award winners named.
Bode, of Nordic skiing, won her second consecutive Female Athlete of the Year Award while her team-mate Jeff Cameron took home the Male Athlete of the Year Award. Super freshmen Nicole Plummer of womens wrestling and Mark Soares of mens hockey were named Freshmen Athletes of the Year.
Other major award winners were Tara Boyce of womens basketball and Chris Richards of mens basketball who won the Hank Akervall Award for athletics, scholarship, and community service. Boyce also won the Argus Award as selected by the Argus campus newspaper.
Awards were also given out in various categories for all of Lakeheads varsity and club teams. Athletes, coaches, and staff then attended a gala banquet after the ceremony to celebrate the end of another fantastic year at Lakehead Athletics.
