The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team is pleased to announce that defenceman Kyle Auger has been added to the line-up.
The 5’10”, 175-pound blueliner had a record year with the Thunder Bay North Stars of the SIJHL last season, named the league’s top defenceman after netting 33 goals and 69 assists for 102 points, the SIJHL’s all-time high for a rearguard.
Prior to that, Auger played three seasons of major junior hockey after being selected in the second round of the 2015 OHL draft by the Windsor Spitfires. The following year he was traded to the Ottawa 67’s before moving on to the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL early in the 2017-18 campaign.
Wolves’ Head Coach Andrew Wilkins said, “Kyle had an impressive year with the North Stars. While I was scouting him, he was constantly creating offence for his team. We’re thrilled to have him join our program and look forward to his future here with the Thunderwolves.”
Auger, a Business major, is excited to get things started with Lakehead. “Being a hometown kid, it has always been a dream of mine to wear a Thunderwolves jersey. I can’t wait to play in front of a passionate group of fans and have a positive impact in my hometown community.”
