Lakehead Athletics and Thunderwolves Hockey are very happy to announce the commitment of top goaltending prospect Kyle Moir to Lakehead mens hockey for the 2007-08 season.
Moir played five seasons of major junior hockey for the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL where he had an excellent career.
The Calgary native was a fifth round draft choice of the Nashville Predators in the 2004 Draft. Moir set the CHL goaltender record this year for games played (233) and total minutes played. This year Moir won the WHLs Doug Wickenheiser Humanitarian Award and then also won the CHLs Home Hardware Humanitarian of the Year Award for all of Canadian Major Junior Hockey.
Moir said he is looking forward to attending Lakehead and playing for the Thunderwolves. Im really excited to go back to school and get a chance to play university hockey for a great program. I came to Thunder Bay last month and I really liked the school and the city. Im also really looking forward to the opportunity to take part in the national championships that Lakehead will host.
Lakehead Athletic Director Tom Warden said the addition of Moir will give Lakehead a very solid goaltending squad. "Were very pleased to have Kyle join our school and our hockey program. He is a very skilled goalie who has been recruited by many universities in Canada. He will be a great complement to Chris Whitley in the Lakehead goal and will give the Thunderwolves an excellent goaltending tandem.
