Five-year old Gareth Aegard of Thunder Bay had a dream come true this past weekend. Gareth, an SK student at Gron Morgan school, was the grand prize winner of The Home Depot/Chronicle Journal Backyard Rink Contest and this past Saturday he and his minor hockey team, the Current River Ducks, got to face off in his new rink against a select squad of Lakehead Thunderwolves players.
Gareth and his team-mates had a great day; facing off against Andrew Brown, Shandor Alphonso, Mark Soares and Mike Wehrstedt of the Thunderwolves. Game action started at 1:00 pm on Saturday and Gareth and his squad had a fantastic time challenging four of Lakeheads top stars.
Gareths prize was all the materials needed to build a backyard rink behind his house this winter; courtesy of The Home Depot and the Chronicle Journal. The second part of the grand prize package was the opportunity to play some backyard shinny against the Thunderwolves.
Thunderwolves Hockey would like to thank The Home Depot and The Chronicle Journal for their support in this great contest and helping make Gareth Aegards dream come true.
