Lakehead comes into the game against Guelph looking to make a jump up in the standings, but things did not go well for them.
Guelph opened the scoring in the game when Jacob Winterton freezes Cicigoi with a shot from top of the left circle top shelf to the dismay of the 2362 fans in attendance.
Both teams had a plethora of scoring chances in the first period, but the goalies stood tall.
Ethan Casper would dumped Tyler Turpin into the Gryphons bench with a huge hit late in the 1st period.
The Gryphon’s would strike just before the midway point of the second off oa sot from the right circle by Ethan Doyle that beat Christian Cicigoi to up the lead to 2-0. A minute and a half later the Gryphon’s struck again off of a faceoff to the right off of Cicigoi on a shot that fool him.The Gryphon’s would continue the onslaught when Dylan Hudon would get one past Cicigoi to put Guelph up 4-0.
Spencer Blackwell would have the best chance of the period for Lakehead but was stoned in close by Wickware. The Thunderwolves would keep the pressure on but to no avail as Guelph would skate into the intermission up 4-0. The Thunderwolves would finally get on the board when Keighan Gerrie picked up a pass from Richard Whittaker and rifled it past Wickware to send the fans into a frenzy.
Shortly after Spencer Blackwell would redirect a Olivier Pouliot shot past Wickware to cut the lead to 4-2. The Wolves would continue to press, and Richard Whittaker would tip in a Justin Paul pass to pull Lakehead within 1. They would not be able to send the game to OT as time would run out on them. Guelph would hold on for a 4-3 win.
