The Lakehead University hockey team is pleased to announce that forward Geoff Dempster has committed to the program.
The 6’3”, 190-pounder from Ottawa, Ontario played four years in the CCHL, primarily with the Nepean Raiders before being traded to the Ottawa Jr. Senators during his final season of junior hockey.
He finished up the 2018-19 campaign with 23 goals and 27 assists for 60 points in 60 regular-season games played with both teams.
He added another 7 points in 14 playoff games as Ottawa went on to win both the CCHA championship and the Fred Page Cup (East Regionals) to advance to the National Junior “A” championship tournament last May, along with teammate Taylor Egan who is also committed to Lakehead.
Thunderwolves’ Head Coach Andrew Wilkins said, "The Jr. Senators used Geoff in all situations last season because he plays the game hard in all areas of the ice. He will add depth and a great work ethic to our team.”
Dempster is eager to come to Lakehead this fall. “Playing university hockey has always been my aspiration and I look forward to competing hard every night,” he said. I’m also looking forward to becoming a member of the community. I understand that the fan base is passionate about the team, and a fresh start in a new city is more comfortable when you have great support.”
