Sophomore forward Matt Caria of Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey leads the team in Molson Cup points heading into the Christmas break. Molson Cup points are awarded to the Three Stars after every Thunderwolves home game. 5 points are awarded to first-star selections, with 3 points for a second-star, and 2 points for a third.
The race is very close between the top contenders so far this season. Caria is on top with 21 points, followed closely by Ryan McDonald with 19 and Kris Hogg with 18. Adam Sergerie and Mike Quesnele are tied for fourth place with 10 points each. As the mid-season leader, Caria will receive a prize pack courtesy of Molson Canada.
The Molson Cup trophy will be awarded to the regular season points winner at a home playoff game in late February. The second and third ranked players will also have their name inscribed on the trophy as well as receive a prize pack from Molson Canada.
