Tasia McKenna of women's basketball and Arron Alphonso of men's hockey are this week's Lakehead Thunderwolves RBC Athletes of the Week. This is McKennas second consecutive Lakehead Athlete of the Week honour.
Tasia McKenna: Womens Basketball: Point Guard: Junior: Timberlea, Nova Scotia.
McKenna had a phenomenal week in New Brunswick; leading the Wolves to three wins out of four games played in Fredericton; including a huge comeback OT win over Cape Breton where she scored 30 points. McKenna was named a Helen Campbell Invitational Tournament All Star for her strong play; where she averaged 18 ppg, 5.5 assists per game and 3.3 steals per game.
Arron Alphonso: Mens Hockey: Freshman: Orangeville, Ontario.
The freshman forward from Orangeville had a strong weekend for the Wolves in their home split vs. the visiting Windsor Lancers. He played good two-way hockey and showed flashes of his speed. He scored a goal and added an assist in the Wolves 6-1 Saturday night win.
