NOTE: THIS GAME WAS AWARDED AS A 1-0 WIN TO LAKEHEAD AFTER WINDSOR LATER DISCLOSED AN INELIGIBLE PLAYER.  ALL STATS EXCEPT SCORE REMAIN THE SAME.....The No. 2 Lakehead Thunderwolves and the Windsor Lancers played to a wild and very hard fought 5-5 O/T draw before 2905 fans at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay on Saturday night.   The game featured some things you don't always see during an OUA game; a Head Coach getting ejected, a fight, overtime, and an alleged whack on the wrist of Wolfie, the Thunderwolves mascot, by a Windsor player.  If you would like to see this exciting game, you can catch it via the internet at on Sunday.  It will be available after 12:00 noon EST.

Lakehead was led by Murray Magill with a goal and an assist while Jordie Preston led Windsor with two goals and David Halliwell scored a goal and added two helpers.  Lakehead outshot Windsor 51-20 in the match.  It was a penalty-filled match filled with hard hitting but also a lot of stick work on both sides.  Lakehead dominated play through much of the game but Windsor worked hard and never gave up and Windsor goaltender Reese Kalleitner played a strong game in the Lancer goal, turning aside 46 Thunderwolves shots.  The tie puts Lakehead's OUA record to 10-2-2 (17-4-3 overall) and puts Windsor's record to 6-8-1 in OUA play (6-13-1 overall).

The Thunderwolves came out hard early, skating fast and controlling play.  Lakehead also played the body early, including a heavy hit by Mike Self on Windsor's Mike Dempster.  The first five minutes featured a lot of minor penalties to both sides that slowed the flow of the play to a crawl.  Lakehead then applied the pressure but couldn't put the puck past Windsor netminder Reese Kalleitner.  The Thunderwolves came close when Robert Hillier tipped a high point shot from Matt Kenny that just missed the left side of the Windsor net.  Windsor was on the powerplay when Lakehead's Murray Magill picked up the loose puck at the Lakehead blueline, streaked past the last Windsor defender and broke in alone on Kalleitner and beat him with a fake at 13:22.   It was around this time that "Wolfie" was allegedly hit on the wrist by a Windsor player when Wolfie allegedly leaned over the glass by the Windsor player's bench.  Tempers continued to run high on both teams and more minors were called to make the first period a very long one.   Lakehead was then on the powerplay and quickly made no mistake as Joel Scherban converted a beautiful pass from Jason Lange at 17:29.  Lakehead outshot Windsor 16-2 in the first.

Lakehead's Grant McCune came up with a big glove save off Windsor's Alex White in the first minute of the second.  However, the Lancer's B.J. Gaylord knocked in a rebound in front of the net at 49 seconds to make it 2-1.  The assist went to David Halliwell.   The bad temper from the first period carried over into a fight at  between Lakehead's Wyatt Tunnicliffe and Windsor's Ryan Bresden with both players being ejected as a result.  Windsor then went on the powerplay and quickly made it 2-2 at 2:46 on a goal by Jordie Preston with assist to Kyle Voy and Alex White.  Lakehead's Bryan Duce then had a good chance that was stopped nicely by Windsor netminder Kalleitner.  Kalleitner followed with a quick glove save off Lakehead's Magill.  Lakehead's Grant McCune then made a great glove save to stop a sure Windsor goal.  Lakehead then put on the pressure and Kalleitner made five stops in quick succession to keep the score even.  The Thunderwolves then went on the powerplay at 11:17, and Lakehead assaulted the Windsor goal.  After another string of saves by Kalleitner, Robert Hillier finally put it past the fallen Windsor netminder at 12:16.  The assists went to Bryan Duce and Magill.  The Lancers came right back on a powerplay of their own at 14:39, when David Halliwell beat a screened McCune with a low point shot.  Lakehead
