WOLVES LOSE OUA OPENER TO LANCERS

The Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team fell 3-1 to the visiting Windsor Lancers Friday night in both teams’ OUA season opener at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The loss puts Lakehead’s record at 0-1 in OUA play and 2-4 overall.  Windsor’s OUA mark is 1-0 and also 2-4 overall.

It was fast paced game for the first game of the season and the young Lancers impressed with their speedy and tenacious overall play.  Lakehead had good scoring opportunities but were denied by Windsor netminder Jim Watt.

Scott Dobben scored his first of the year for the Wolves while Windsor was paced by Taylor Shane with a pair of goals with a single tallied by Brock Zinken. 

Lakehead outshot Windsor 40-32 on the night.  Lakehead was 0-5 on the powerplay while Windsor went 1-5. 

The two teams meet again Saturday night at the Gardens in Thunder Bay with faceoff at 7:30 pm EST. 

Both home games vs. Saint Mary’s will be videowebcast live on a pay-per-view basis with ordering information available at http://events.news-cast.com/events/Lakehead.  Viewers will need hi speed internet and Windows Media Player to watch the broadcasts.  Rock94 FM Sports Director Bryan Wyatt will be calling the play by play while Argus Sports Editor Mike St. Jean will be handling the pre-game, colour, and intermission duties with the broadcasts beginning each night at 7:20 pm EST.
